Ride to Veterans Day Memorial ceremony in Anthem, 11/11/23

Nearly a dozen Yavapai HOG members turned out for the early morning trek south to Anthem to visit the nationally-renowned Veterans Memorial and pay their respects to those who have served, who still serve, and to those who have made the ultimate sacrifice.

The centerpiece at the memorial features five white pillars, which represent the nation’s military branches and are arranged in Department of Defense order of precedence: Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, and Coast Guard.  Each pillar has an elliptical opening that slants downward toward the Great Seal of the United States. Each Veterans Day – November 11 – the design allows the sun’s rays to spotlight the Great Seal at 11:11 am Mountain Standard Time, commemorating the signing of the Armistice, ending World War I.

During the ceremony, it was mentioned several times that individuals in attendance came from far and wide to be at THIS particular memorial, on THIS particular day and time.
